Following FCC Wrist-Strap Guidelines With A Baofeng UV-5R & Other Ham Or GMRS Radios

In this video I review FCC guidelines and laws with regard to wrist-strap use with a Baofeng UV-5R and other ham radios. Most of these FCC rules also apply to using GMRS radios. Many people studying for a ham license fail to recognize how important the wrist-strap regulations are in ham radio use.

I am watching your you tube video on the Baofeng 5RX. Love your introductory. Very amusing. Really anyway I got to the part where you’re checking for tones. I just reviewed two units and one will move from frequency to channel but the other will not using the VFO/MR button. Thought maybe you could help me out. Checked the one for tones. Good to go.

In the above video you failed to mention how many spurious emissions are sprayed out of the strap?

    Dear sir,
Jus fought my way through the FCC Website and phone tree to ask where my GMRS permission slip was. Had renewed HAM radio license on same day I applied for what I believe will be more useful to me. At any rate helpful (oxymoron) lady bureaucrat informed me it was granted by the overseeer at FCC on the same day. She then read it off, SIERRA SIERRA JULIET NINER NINER BLAH BLAH BLAH. Could barely keep from LMMFAO.
I copied and deciphered it into english. Now all I need are some radios called BOOFWANGS.
    LOVE THE T-SHIRTS!
