Tip Top Mountain is located above Burns Canyon Road (2N02) roughly mid-way between Big Bear and Pioneer Town. Tip Top Mountain peak rises approximately 1,000 feet above the meadow below and offers beautiful, yet windy views of Lucerne Valley and the Big Bear area.
Tip Top Mountain 4×4 Trail (road) 2N90 is approximately 2 miles from the start on 2N02 (Burns Canyon Road) to the peak of Tip Top Mountain. The shelf-road is narrow and wide enough for only one vehicle and has only a few pull-outs. The road is rutted in many areas and is recommended for high-clearance 4WD vehicles only. Many consider Tip Top Mountain and “easy off-road trail”, but it may be challenging or even dangerous for inexperienced off-road drivers due to the narrow, rutted shelf-road.
