We took a ride from Twentynine Palms to Brooklyn Mine in the Old Dale Mining District, just outside of Joshua Tree National Park – stopping at “The Flag Building” (aka Sunset Mine), Rose of Peru Mine, Gold Standard Mine, and finally, Brooklyn Mine.

All the parks service has gotten wise to the “dangerous perils of open mines”. Went today 20apr2022 and found the Brooklyn mine closed with a welding steel grate. No way of getting in. The giant shaft outside the entrance has a giant steel welded cover over it now. Too bad. I went in may2021 and went in this mine. Was fun and seemed harmless. Why does the man gotta stick it to us!
